This year, Energy Service Corps is running programs in four states on more than 20 college campuses! More than 2,350 volunteers and AmeriCorps members served in their local communities this year, from educating students and residents about energy use, to organizing service projects to help homeowners, businesses and community groups waste less energy and save more money on their monthly bills. Last year, these members and volunteers conducted over 5,580 energy assessments and educated over 39,500 students in the classroom -- this year, we've working to double our impact, working with local leaders and volunteers to help us all save energy, save the environment and save money, all at the same time.
This year, we’ve held 9/11 Day of Service events that brought 56 volunteers out to local neighborhoods around 4 Colorado campuses; we've launched our K-12 education program, returning to Denver's Place Bridge Academy's after-school program, working with the Boulder schools to reduce their energy use and putting on a week of energy education across California schools, educating a whole elementary school in Riverside, and half a high school in Modesto!
